Many therapists tell me they find themselves drifting into a talk-only, “how was your week psychotherapy” conversation.
This is far from the evidence-based treatment protocols, they want to be using and they're not sure how to get back on track.
Others admit they get hypnotized by clients.
Just following the stories, trying hard to understand their problems and validate them can sometimes emotionally activate you as a therapist and keep the change process stuck.
Have you heard clients report that therapy makes them feel worse?
Or they drop out of treatment, and stop returning calls.
Therapists need the ability to help clients by having a brain science basis to support the practice of psychotherapy-for what you say, and do in sessions.
All the good advice in the world doesn’t automatically translate into change.
Your clients have been told the same things; learn to love yourself, manage stress, let go, forgive, change your bad habits, do good, etc.,
For the brain’s change or neuroplasticity switch to turn-on, you need new ways of thinking about why change hasn’t happened and how it’s possible to feel free of pain, people and the past.
Novel tools for teaching stress management to clients where they learn to target the whole brain and body for healing.
IS THIS TRUE FOR YOU?
YOU WANT A NEW WAY OF DOING CHANGE WORK IN SESSIONS
And if you’re feeling confused, stressed, facing burn-out, or demoralized after hearing client’s painful stories and problems you can have a new way of thinking about and doing change work in sessions.
YOU KNOW YOUR CLIENTS DON'T NEED EMPATHY AND VALIDATION ONLY
They need a way to feel better despite the past, or current situation and not worry endlessly about the future.
YOU WANT TO BE EFFECTIVE AND CONSISTENT IN CREATING QUICK AND LASTING CHANGE FOR CLIENTS
You want a method to help your clients with what they want most and to stop them suffering too much emotional pain for far too long.
You want to Avoid Committing Neuroplastic Malpractice in Session.
Target the Brain ---it’s not the stuff that’s causing you to feel bad—it’s what your brain is doing.
Use specific ‘how to’ techniques grounded in neuroscientific theory, research, and evidence.
Brain-based targeting of the whole brain especially brain emotional pain centers, automatic thoughts, and unconscious memories, habits or learnings that can hold clients back, and cause stress.

Dr. Michas is a rare expert with knowledge on the human brain...
There are a few people that positively impact one's life.
Dr. Elizabeth Michas is one of those individuals in my life.
I found Dr. Michas to be a brilliant practitioner whose presence and attitude towards her patients creates a safe space for the trauma survivor to process the memories of the trauma.
Dr. Michas is a rare expert with knowledge on the human brain and with her ability to share that knowledge in a manner that the trauma survivor can digest.
That information provides a therapeutic alliance in moving through the trauma and sets the path for the healing of the traumatic memory.

MORE STUDENT REVIEWS . . .
“I appreciate and I’m excited about the simplicity of the theory of the brain as contrasted with many the past trainings I attended at my school where a speaker was brought in and it was so complicated I was discouraged to use neuroscience in therapy.
Dr. Elizabeth Michas’ model is easy-to-understand and practical.
I value how it interacts with other interventions. It is “cutting-edge” brain science.”
Diane Monteleone-Mastro, LMHC, NCC Roswell, GA
“Really useful information and concrete things to do in practice. The ‘playing the organ’ model of Bottom, Middle, Top-Brain is so clear and easy to explain.
It’s a great way to organize how to use brain science to have a whole brain intervention that works.
My brain has been updated and reset and I know I am going to be much more effective with clients. I really could go on and on about how valuable your EPI Training is to me. I feel new motivation. Thank you.”
Rebecca L. Blevins, LMHC, New Smyrna Beach, FL
Dr. Michas presents a heuristic model that uses neuroscience to explain the critical role of emotions upon behavior and memories.
She cleverly models the techniques throughout the workshop ensuring that participants stay calm, clear and connected.
By using a “See-One, Do-One, Teach-One” approach, practitioners leave with the confidence of not only understanding the model but be able to practice it immediately with their patients.

ABOUT DR. ELIZABETH
In 1998, I lost my first child, Elise, to a rare childhood cancer at age 4.
I can't even begin to tell you how awful that was, to watch my young, vulnerable child slip away.
I was back to work in a hospital, but my nervous system would jump every time I heard an emergency medical call over the loud speaker.
I felt jumpy and nervous even though I was back to work, I knew I wasn't really "back."
The next year, I had a surprise visit with a mentor of mine, who taught me clinical hypnosis.
In less than two hours, I felt completely free of pain despite my terrible loss.
With my specialized training in neuropsychology, I've made it my life mission to illuminate the neuroscience of transformation and help others rapidly recover from emotional pain.
I know first-hand what's needed to get unstuck out of emotional pain cycles, fully recover and thrive.
I've helped thousands of clients—and hundreds of therapists—in my 30 years as a Licensed Psychologist.
I am an expert in the neuropsychology of rapid resolution of anxiety, trauma, addiction, grief, and heartbreak.
As Founder/CEO-MindWorks Psychology, I've trained and certified hundreds of mental health professionals since 2013 in an applied clinical neuroscience approach using my trademarked Emotional Pain Intervention (EPI®) Play the Brain for Change system.
I'm also a Brain-based Coach, Consultant, and Author of Play the Brain for Change: How to Activate the Vagus Nerve and Use Neuroplasticity for Quick and Lasting Change, A Brain-Changing Conversation Guide for Therapists and the upcoming book Lovestuck™: The Neuroscience of Healing Heartbreak.

David D. Yaeger, Ph.D., Atlanta, GA
“I love the understanding of how the different parts of the brain work, what activates what, and how to explain thoughts, feelings and sensations, etc. to clients while addressing the bottom brain experientially.”
Naomi Morgan, LMHC, Destin, FL
